[Pao-lin lets out a tiny yelp; she definitely had not been expecting that. The surprise is enough to cause her to drop a few of her books.]

Ah, thanks. [She sets aside the books she was carrying on a somewhat empty shelf before bending down and getting whatever Zuko hasn't picked up.] There aren't books about this sort of thing in my own world [well, not a lot of practical ones, anyway] so I wanted to check these out. I thought maybe they might help me figure out what I can do with my own powers.

Yeah. Sometimes I use my lightning to make pictures and stuff.

Yeah, it took me a few years before I could even make a square with my powers. But now I can do different things, too! [She looks around a bit warily.] I could show you if you're curious, though I don't think I should do anything too big, since we're inside.

[Zuko blinks. Lightning inside? Ah. No.] In my experience, lightning's pretty unpredictable.

That's understandable. It took me a while before I could really control anything larger than a spark. [She takes a seat at the table and rests her chin in her hands, glancing upwards thoughtfully.] I like my powers, though. They're...clean, I guess. Not like ice, or wind, or fire.

[Hey, don't knock fire.] In my world, lightning stems from fire. Very few firebenders can control lightning; it's too wild.
