I don't know what Henderson could have done, though. "I think this guy is going to kill people" is not a basis for imprisonment. Because his wife had cancer he had an excuse for unstable behavior. And what if they had gotten a restraining order - Gilkey would probably have just come over to the house and shot everyone in retaliation.

I absolutely do not blame anyone except the fucker who killed his family. I do not think they could have magically prevented it, and I have no list in my head of things they should have done differently. But to say "oh, we thought his violence would only be self-inflicted" about someone who beat a man to death and stabbed his father is... well, it caught my attention.
