All I've got is "Patrick Bateman" (guy from American Psycho) by the Manic Street Preachers.

I've never even heard of them (I'm familiar with American Psycho, though). Is the song any good?

Never heard it, but I've heard them. Not my cup of tea.

Now I remembered some more:

"Tales of Brave Ulysses (sp?)" by Cream

"Don't stand so close to me" by the Police: "just like the/old man in/that book by Nabakov"

"No Myth" by Michael Penn: "What if I was Romeo in black jeans/what if I was Heathcliff/its no myth."

I'll remember more later.

Oh, man, I keep forgetting about that song. Thanks for the reminder!

Of course, my problem at this point is the difficulty of getting songs I don't already have -- Limewire is a bitch when you're using dialup. Sigh. It's a hard life...

I'm worthless.

As an interesting sidenote, my grandma is Flannery's first cousin. They grew up together. Grandma says she was completely bat-shit. When they were kids, she trained one of the chickens on their farm to walk backwards.

Ok, that? Is awesome. I wish I had a chicken that walked backwards.

The only thing I can think of is "The Lady of Shallot" by Loreena McKennit, based on the poem. Beautiful song.

Oh dude, and the Dire Straights/Indigo Girls "Romeo and Juliet." I much prefer the Indigo Girls. And they had that "Virigina Woolf" song too.
