I really liked this one. A deviation from the norm, but refreshing. It found your detailed background of Sephiroth fascinating. I liked how you explored his different relationships with women from early childhood through adolescence and adulthood and then finally to Hotaru. Psychic Fangirl Twin Powers Activate: As usual you have a way of reading my mind. I always thought about the relationship between Hotaru and Sephiroth as being a mutual willing surrender of power. I agree that she wouldn't ask or ever seek to use the power she holds over him to manipulate him to do her bidding (as in killing people).

Even though this was all from Sephiroth's perspective, I didn't mind; your insight and characterization are excellent. Only one line I thought was a little off: "Both the conquerer and the conquered, both the master and the slave... Both equal, in every sense of the word." --I personally would rephrase it as "No longer just the conquerer and the conquered nor master and slave...But equal in every sense of the word." Yaaay, I'm so glad you liked it! =D I know it was quite different than my usual fics, but I couldn't get the notion out of my head... the contrast between Sephiroth's usual stubborn pride and ego, and the way he completely surrenders to Hotaru (and how, in the end, it's NOT a contradiction at all). XD I think that there's a lot of "mutual surrender" going on in their relationship, although there's even more to it than that, obviously. One further part I would like to explore is that they're so "powerful" in the rest of their lives that their lover is the only person/place they can be "weak" and vulnerable with... hence why I say Hotaru is really really strong at the same time as I write her sort of clinging to Sephiroth for strength (she has to be so strong all the time, surely she deserves a rest and someone who can be strong for her at times ( ... )

Oooh, also, I could use a little bit of inspiration on something, if you don't mind. I commissioned an art piece of Sephiroth/Sailor Saturn at the last anime con I went to, and the artist has just emailed me with a thumbnail of the finished piece. She's also said that she thinks, compositionally, it would look good with a title or with some words of some kind. Problem is, my brain is drawing a blank on what to suggest! So far I thought of ( ... )
