The car is finally at my mechanic's, which took a few phone calls to get done but yeah, finally.  I went and looked at it today and there are some serious scratches on the passenger side, one with white paint transfer and at least two ding type things down to the metal.  They were not there before, I won't allow metal to be showing, good way to

I work for Allstate... I'd have them check to make sure the airbag is actually still there. Airbags can be stolen, and it's bad to find out in an accident that you really weren't protected after all.

Recovered Thefts aren't usually happy cars. :(

eep that never occurred to me

I'll call my mechanic tomorrow and make sure he checked, but wouldn't it have been obvious if it had been taken? those things don't just go back together do they?

It's possible to do it, and I know it's happened before.

I work in the Total Loss Department of Allstate, and I'm friendly with the Theft people who are right next to us, I'll go poke them and ask if there's anything else you should be checking.
