End of the Eudora Era

Jun 26, 2015 13:13

I went to install Eudora on this new computer, to find that even Eudora OSE, the Thunderbird-driven thing which replaced Qualcomm's original Eudora software, has finally passed away.

I've been using Eudora for my email since 1995!   *weeps*

I feel as I would if I had just discovered that you couldnt' buy a kettle any more.

technology, email, disaster, whining, luddite, whinge

I am tempted to go back to Pegasus Mail, which is what I used before Eudora, and against all commonsense and likelihood *is still available*...

Oh gosh! I recall the FatBeehive webteam suggesting that we put Eudora on the one PC (running Win98) in the office at Vacation Work, all the editorial machines being Amstrads running Locoscript. I liked it because it was very similar to Outlook Express which I'd started using having "inherited" a Win95 machine at home, and which happily transferred to the XP machine I've been using for the last 10 years

Ouch. Favourite applications no longer working is always a sad moment.

I don't have an actively favourite mail client nowadays. I use Thunderbird, which is _fine_, but it's not something I feel actively positive about.
