Saturday - Same long run along the lake as the last two Saturdays, modulo a few detours to attempt to avoid nasty ice. I've started to recognise a few regulars. I have no idea how you manage to get out and run in such cold conditions. I get grumpy when I get rained on during a glorious Adelaide mid-winter day of 12C.
My running program tells me that I have to do a 5km race on Saturday. Given my form this morning I'll be happy to break 24 minutes. (A few low-sleep nights and some over-enthusiastic speedwork seem to have had an impact on my legs. I barely managed to hold 5 minute kilometres today. Blecch.)
I won't actually be racing - I have an exam to invigilate on Saturday - but I'll try and do a fast 5km around my usual training course.
Beware of the slush - the last thing you want to do now is to turn an ankle or throw one of your knees out. Slow is sensible in these conditions!
