...what I don't understand is how Mr Assange thinks he will live longer by trickle-feeding us his secrets. (Currently released so far... 667 / 251,287). I know he says "to do otherwise would not do this material justice" but at this rate it will take two Internet decades to get them all out, and his servers will be shut down and he will be in jail

I agree, this is puzzling. On the other hand, his redaction probably can't be done for 250K cables overnight.

I hadn't thought of the burden of redaction, but it's possible I suppose. Though much of that could have been done in advance of a big release. And so far his public arguing with the Dept of State doesn't suggest he'd take that task too seriously. Finally you'd think the 133,887 "unclassified" cables wouldn't involve much work, if State didn't see fit to classify them in the first place.
