Topeka, Kan. repeals Domestic Violence Law

Nov 09, 2011 21:35

I know this is probably old news to many people, but I figured why not? I'm cross posting this from we_r_the_middle (the political community I maintain), even though I posted this last month.

The article behind the cut-triger warnings for domestic abuse. It's also rage inducing )

politicans, cruelty, domestic violence, violence, articles, law, abuse, children

*sighs* and how many women will die because of this?
I lost a good friend of mine to domestic violence- her boyfriend came home and because the neighbors didn't know her brother- the boyfriend was told about the "strange man" at the house. He went in and the next thing anyone knew-she was dead.

I'm sorry to hear you lost a friend to domestic violence :( *hugs*

Hopefully, her boyfriend is serving time for that

Agreed. Doing something like this isn't going to help change things when it comes down to domestic violence.

If the government isn't doing its job, maybe this is what the Constitution meant by having your own militia. Neighborhood group watches that drag the abuser out and beat the crap out of him. If our own government won't protect us, who will? My sister had a stalker who would beat her until...my brother and nephews tracked him down in a very unfriendly way. We're talking O.K. Corral. Haven't seen the coward since.
