I heard about that; I don't like it either. It also sends the message that it IS disgusting to wear certain things. Instead I would have pointed out that people could make fun of her for the things she already likes - you don't even need public humiliation for that, just that point. We all have different tastes, opinions, beliefs... so be civil about it.

I agree with the OP. This is basically just the parent bullying the child in return.
