Dean really wasn't planning on it being like this. Really, he wasn't. The things he wanted for the world. The things he wanted for Cas -- everything had been ruined. He wished he could have made it right when he had a chance. If he ever had a chance. The hunter looked on at his angel, a smile tugging at his lips as he looked down at the other man's outfit and than back at his own. "Guess we had the same idea...trip down memory lane?" Dean hadn't really done this for himself but more for Cas. Castiel who usually seemed more tired than usual but he tried. He tried more than Dean...that was for sure. But then again, everyone seemed to try more than Dean. Of course, the hunter may have been their leader. But he was in no way someone that people knew had hope in the situation. If there was anyone with the least amount of hope -- it was always going to be Dean ( ... )

Castiel looked at Dean for a good long time before moving aside and pulling the door back so that he could enter. Gifts could wait until later. He just wanted his friend out of the cold and somewhere warmer, and his cabin was one of few that had a fireplace.

"I was-- reflecting," searching for the word wasn't hard so much as embracing it.

Cas took the box from him. "Thank you."

He didn't get him anything. Nothing but the snow.

Dean was right about to shove the box in Cas's arms before the former angel took it from him and he moved inside. It was...more agreeable to be inside than it was to be outside as his boots heavily clanked against the hardwood as he looked over his shoulder at him. "No...problem. Apparently people seem to think we need to start getting back to the roots of shit. Christmas party, shit like that." He chuckled a little as he tucked his hands into his jacket pockets as he moved to settle closer to the fireplace before looking back at his friend.

"You should open it. I wasn't smart enough to put holes..." Because he thought Cas would just tear it open to see what was inside.
