I posted on a CMT  board to invite them to look at my blog. As great as you guys have been, i'd love to have people that really understand what I'm going through read this. good luck with all your plans!
can i ask you - re: evals... did they train you in to do it? I've considered doing it but don't have the tools myself -- didn't learn enough in college on what to do.

i kind of learned on the job. Its a requirement for all teachers to test each student in their class annually, so i had to learn! first i was so nervous. I observed a few people doing one and than i started with my own student and it took me literally three days, half hour each to get through it. Over time, I became more and more comfortable until I asked the Intake person if she could start giving me outside evals...also that first one took a while but now I can do them rather quickly. the writing them up is still a pain and I still tend to get nervous before doing them. If you want more info, feel free to ask here or privately.

I can understand your sister a bit, I find myself now having to explain to whoever I tell about mendy's dx how it's not bad, bla bla bla, they all freak out when they hear ASD. these ppl are not educated in medical lingo and everything sounds scary, terminal, and hereditary to everyone.

i understand her too, i really do. and our situation is hereditary and sounds awfully scary when doing online research. Thank god nothing is terminal though. But i agree that the less worldly the society is, the scarier and worse these things tend to sound. I hope my kids dont end up becoming super yeshivish or its going to make things more complicated! (although i do believe hashem runs the world and makes shidduchim no matter what society you come from)
