Whine? Moi?!...

"Stop that," she said with absolutely no conviction.

But she did manage to hold him off, I notice. ;-) I guess the score's just about even right now, though, since Nick did manage to steer the conversation away from divorce. Hmm.

I'm very curious to learn about what went wrong with their son! How does the disgruntled child of a cop and a lawyer rebel, anyway? Is he in a commune somewhere? Beach bum? Saving the whales? Or something a little more unsavory? :-(

Under his soft tee shirt, she could feel his thick wedding band on a chain around his neck.

Yep. Nicky Ray sure likes his gold jewelry. ;-)

"But it'll be my decision. I'm the adult; you're the child. You may remember this from one of our first discussions about you living here."

This was a lovely little moment. I like the way Nick's presence is giving Rusty a chance to test the boundaries a little. (And for Sharon to prove herself willing to listen, while still remaining the Adult In Charge.)

Sort of whined. In the nicest way possible. :D

I had Sharon doing more of a d'oh! moment when she realizes this, but liked it that she's sort of oblivious to his insidious ways.

I'm very curious to learn about what went wrong with their son! How does the disgruntled child of a cop and a lawyer rebel, anyway? Is he in a commune somewhere? Beach bum? Saving the whales? Or something a little more unsavory?

And you just keep guessing at the plot!

This was a lovely little moment. I like the way Nick's presence is giving Rusty a chance to test the boundaries a little. (And for Sharon to prove herself willing to listen, while still remaining the Adult In Charge.)I was going for just that. Hard to balance that, because I don't want Rusty to feel abandoned, but I don't want Sharon to be some big pushover, jumping at his beck (hee) and call. But everything's still so tenuous between them, and I definitely think ( ... )

LOL! I was concerned there wasn't an 'action' in this chapter, but you saw it as a vigorous tennis match!

sexuce

I'm so putting this in my lexicon. :D

So why isn't this posted @ the new place too?

Give us some time!

Ooooh, me, too! And I actually thought things were going in that direction xD

Fabulous chapter! I love the way you write Sharon and Rusty :) And all the characteristics you've given Nick are intriguing :) Can't wait to see where you'll be taking them from here.

This is getting better and better! I love the complexity of Sharon and Nick's relationship and the glimpses into their past.

Her interaction with Rusty at the end hits just the right note too and makes me like them both more.

The whole idea of a marriage with a 20 year legal separation just screams 'complex'. Who does that, and why?

Her interaction with Rusty at the end hits just the right note too and makes me like them both more.

That's great to hear. I'm not a kid person, so I'm a bit nervous about all that. MM's a great teacher though, with her firm Mamma performance!

As a recovering/lapsed/just sort of bad Catholic myself, I like the way this is playing into the backstory you're giving Sharon. Its complex and I don't know, I just like it. (I'm bad with the words today).

Can't wait to see more of this play out!

I'm not religious AT ALL, so these sorts of details always worry me! I seem to get attached to religious characters! But I also enjoy a challenge. :D

Man... Nick is manipulative isn't he?, he either wants it all including the girlfriend and the wife or is getting lonely in his older age. I hate the way that he is manipulating her with the whole "you'll lose Rusty" thing. I think thats BS!

I think he suspects that there is something with Flynn, even if Sharon hasn't realized it completely yet. Plus Nick saw the look on Andy's face when he saw that Nick was there. (Andy and Sharon need to do something about that and soon) Sharon needs to spill it to Andy.

Slamming the door sometimes is therapeutic!!

I think he's a lawyer. :D Which is the same thing?

he either wants it all including the girlfriend and the wife or is getting lonely in his older age.

Well, Sharon gets to have boyfriends too! And I don't think women *need* to have a man on TV shows, but for the character, something made take Rusty into her home. A bit of loneliness?

I hate the way that he is manipulating her with the whole "you'll lose Rusty" thing. I think thats BS!

Actually, I find it a bit worrisome, all this joy that Rusty was a ward of the state at the end...Er...DCFS could just take him away at any point, from my understanding. And if something happens that makes Sharon's home appear unsafe...

I think he suspects that there is something with Flynn, even if Sharon hasn't realized it completely yet. Plus Nick saw the look on Andy's face when he saw that Nick was there.

I definitely agree that Nick sees more than Sharon and even poor Andy. Those sort of evolving relationships are always fun to write!
