Gina, are you an idiot? Cavil's somewhere around and you're letting Sharon go out with one of your human minions?
Bill and Laura. They're so good at playing games, aren't they? Tough guy, hot teacher. Bill's grown up enough to know that there's a time to stop playing games, to not allow the past to repeat itself. Laura seems stuck in her 20s emotionally, a little afraid of her own power as a woman, thinking that she can exercise this part of her power or the other, but not all of them simultaneously. I wonder if the canon Laura would have been, after the series ended, as intriguing a character as she remains if we had ever learned what made her tick, as we did for some of the other characters.

I will say in Laura's defense that Bill should know each woman is different and there may be good reasons for Laura to be this way. Yet more scenes we haven't seen; the two of them swapping background stories.
Great, Dark Queen, only you could make us dread a universe where Laura survives!

I'm glad you gave us a little of Laura's thoughts at the end. That she was thinking the same things as Bill. ♥
HAH! I decided to end run you and Tink! If I didn't include that, I knew I was inviting a sad little PM from Tink. "Laura seems so...hard."
And in doing that, I really liked that idea, that was thinking the same thing, and unlike him, it scared her to death!
In US elections, you aren't voting for a person for president, you're voting for a party, and that party has nominated two people to be president and vice-president. There are more than two people running for president every election, but the rest of the world doesn't hear about the wacky Libertarians and our sad little Green Party candidates.
So I feel comfortable having a three horse race, assuming all the horses make it that far!

I really liked this.
Especially this, She rolled her eyes. When had this happened? How had she fallen in love with a man who collected scars?
And books of poetry, she reminded herself as she undid his pants and pushed them off.
In one of your last chapters (one of the ones I failed to comment on), you wrote about how unsettled Laura was by her surprising emotions (when Bill was off in battle). And now you follow it up here so beautifully, with Laura battling for control over her feelings, trying to intellectualize her fear of getting close.
It's just amazing to see this older woman in the midst of such an emotional growth spurt.

That's a really good point. I LOVE Bill's dialogue to Tyrol about what love is. I try to carry that through in my Bill characterization and it appears that Laura's a thinker when it comes to love, bless her.
It's just amazing to see this older woman in the midst of such an emotional growth spurt.
I'm always looking to understand why young women seem to connect with Laura Roslin and I wonder if that's part of it. Like a young woman coming out of college and having to face this scary thing, a job, Laura's suddenly thrust into an important position. And she has her first serious relationship, even though she's got decades on her fans. :D

And she tell's him she loves him! That was huge for Laura! Sometimes I just feel the need to step in there and explain how their relationship works.
