My kittens have fleas!

My kittens have fleas!

They have had two Dawn baths Sunday. I have dusted their catio with diatomaceous earth. I also dusted them.

Now the lost dog, Bud, might be sick.

I am feeling a bit overwhelmed now.

I have just started a new job.

At least Irving Animal Services actually answered the phone when I called. They are technically closed Mondays. The ( Read more... )

Keep the receipts from your purchases for the fosters - the fostering entity you foster through should be reimbursing you. All the shelters that do fosters up here do that.

That's the bummer- this foster agency doesn't.

I don't know if it's because they are a small group, or it's a Texas thing.

One of the volunteers/ fosters- she is from New York and she mentioned that when she fostered in NY, they gave her food and whatever she needed.

That stinks! Yeah, I'm in NY and that's the general rule here, even for the programs that are tiny and rural.

And making another reply- my aunt in Corpus Christi fosters for a local rescue.

She does pay for stuff for her fosters, but gets it extremely cheap. She gives the money to the head organizer, who makes purchases for everyone from Costco/ Sam's Club.

I was hearing about this from my mom. I told my mom that I think the head organizer is using the 501c's non-profit status.

Or so I have heard from food bank volunteers. A grocery store sells stuff to the food bank at cost, and the grocery store gets to write off the loss of profit in their tax return.

So I think that is how the organizer is purchasing food, litter, anti-flea stuff, so cheaply.

Another reason I said "maybe it's a Texas thing"-

Because someone in my sketch group (pre-pandemic) had been looking into being a foster parent. She mentioned that Texas foster care checks your income to make sure that you can afford to care for the foster kids.

I freely admit that I am going to say "no more kittens!" After these kittens are adopted out.

And I might contact other cat rescue groups to see if they provide stuff for their fosters.
