I absolutely loved To Kill a Mockingbird. I can't remember when I read it, but I know it was required to pass 8th grade. There was a house in the town we lived at the time -- podunk, Iowa -- all dilapidated and crusty. I used to tell my friends it was Boo Radley's house. I also started leaving weird things in the yard because it didn't have any trees. A few years after we moved, I went back and someone turned that shabby shanty into a quanit little house.

I also did a tree diorama for a report on the book. 'Cause I was a dork.

Hello, person I don't know! I just wanted to tell you that your To Kill a Mockingbird-related shenanigans made me smile like this --> :D! I wish I had been young enough/living in the appropriate environment when I read it to engage in similar shenanigans! That book is one of my favourite ever!

I'm good! I'm reading The Great Gatsby right now, and I'm enjoying it a lot! Reading is so awesome!

In other news, I have a bizarre combination of feeling like I ought to be doing a lot of studying things, and not actually having a lot of studying things to do. Luckily, The Great Gatsby is highly distracting!

How's TK?

reading IS awesome.

oooh, i'm glad you have time to read and take a break from studying. *approves* you could always study criminal minds.

tk is okay i guess. he's at his dad's house this week, so i won't see him until monday. but he's been doing all right. had a nice time at his mini-party last week. he played about 10 billion hours of video games. *facepalm*

what are you doing this weekend? have any plans? when is the big get together?

speaking of get togethers, do you have any thoughts on if you're going to winchestercon?

sometime this weekend i'll post in the bat cave with more of an upate. i hope you're good. *ginormous smishes*

HOORAY FOR BOOKS! \o/ I just did the listie, too.

I'm so glad someone else thinks that Catcher in the Rye seems overrated. I just can't bring myself to wanna read it.

And Burnett love! W00t! I actually saw the movie The Secret Garden first and then begged and pleaded with my mom to get me my very own copy of the book (we couldn't really afford a lot of books but I wanted to own this one and not get it from the library).

I dunno what it is about "Mockingbird" that never did it for me. I had to read it for class back in elementary school and I just...never fell in love with it the way other people have. It's good but it didn't make me want to read ahead in class. *sadface*

You don't need to bold twice. Do what I did and make the text BIG. :D

Y'know, I've always wanted to read some Sherlock Holmes. I wonder why the hell I haven't gotten around to it...

The killer thing is I always have a big ol' stack of books sitting around waiting to be read because I seem to buy them faster than I read them.

I LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! and i think...five or so years ago another movie was made and it's JUST GORGEOUS. i bought it even though tk doesn't give a crap. although...maybe i'll try to make him watch it. *tricksy*

The Catcher in the Rye is OK, but I love love love Salinger's Glass Family stories. Franny and Zooey is one of my favourite books. So much better than Catcher.

One more chapter of Gatsby to go! *waves flag*

You want to add Red Badge of Courage? I so love you!
I'm kind of a Crane nut. I read all his stories and correspondence when I was in high school, and I have nearly all of his poems memorized to this day. <---DORK OF EPIC PROPORTIONS.
Have you read The Veteran? It's a short that revisits Fleming (Red Badge protagonist) as an old man. Not his best, but interesting, and a very rare thing to do for that time period. My absolute fav Crane short is The Open Boat. If you haven't read it and love Red Badge, you should totally check it out. It's widely available online if you Google it.
Hmm, I think I said this exact same thing to Refur like a month ago. I am such a broken record. *facepalm*
