I iz joining the "Not So Impressed with HDMs Club." It was interesting, but it was a little too concepty and not charactery enough for my taste.

I'm with refur on the subject of Salinger. Don't worry about Catcher in the Rye. I loved Franny and Zooey, too, but my all time favorite is Raise High the Roof Beam, Carpenters and Seymour: An Introduction, usually printed together in one book. These are also Glass family novellas and they are completely amazing.

Sherlock Holmes was my first literary character crush. I read all the stories and the two novels literally over and over again and I still dip back into them occasionally. He is the original dysfunctional genius. Did you ever see the ST:TNG episode where Data played Sherlock Holmes on the Holodeck? How about this idea: Spencer Reid dreams he is Sherlock Holmes and solves a serial murder the Holmes way! Who should be his Watson? (tee hee)

To Kill a Mockingbird is another book I read until my original copy literally fell to pieces. I always got the urge to read it in ( ... )

P.S. I am heartily glad to see that you intend to read Catch-22, which is the best catch of them all. Joseph Heller = brilliant snarky LOVE. LOVE!

ETA: I forgot that I had to say something about you not liking Wuthering Heights! <-- That was it, btw. I'm gloriously abru-

Ooo, I love this! It reminded me of so many old favs! I've read a quarter of these but it's been awhile on most of them. Now I'm fighting to urge to run downstairs and unpack the moving boxes to read a bunch of these all over again! Or, better yet, I could pick up a couple of the other quarter I've been meaning to read... *hand slap* Bad, Kat, bad, Kat... Must save money for new place. *pout*
*ponders just how far down in the stack of boxes I'll need to dig before I'll hit my Dickens stash* I'm never going to finish packing if I keep this up... *sigh*
Oh, and I was rather underwhelmed with Catcher myself, so don't feel bad. It's alright, don't get me wrong, but it just didn't quite live up to the hype for me. I'm that way with more than a few on this list actually. Dostoyevsky, anyone? Crime and Punishment is practically an obsession for some folks in my field especially, but I can't seem to summon up that much excitement for it. Maybe I didn't get the best translation or something?

Hi Buffy!

good luck moving!!!1 you are a brave soul.

Thanks! I hate moving SO MUCH! I finally have a contract on my house and must be out by the 8th, so I guess that means I need to get my arse in gear. I still don't even have a new place yet, though, so the next few weeks are going to be rather interesting.

Between books, music, internet and the fabulous intersections of all three, it's a miracle I ever get anything remotely constructive accomplished at all ever. hehe. Awesome sparkly zombie posts ain't helping either - not that I'm complaining. <3 The RL seriously needs to stop messin' with my stalking schedule, yo. There are shiny fics I haven't even gotten to yet!

RL: Aren't you supposed to be looking for a place to live?
ME: But, there are shiny fics!
RL: You need a place to live, idjit!
