I've been trying to find this info. myself, but I keep reading conflicting, and confusing things, and nothing specifically for Erie county or Buffalo, so I figured I'd just ask here

I guess the obvious thing to do first is look at your original lease to see if there's a provision for that (if you don't have it obtain one from the landlord).
My original lease was one year and then went month-to-month.
I'm leaving at the end of Nov and told him on Oct 1.
And there were no issues.

My landlord requires a full calendar month. So if you find a place October 10th, you can leave November 30th.... I think that is pretty standard.

I was always month to month when I rented. I left when I did.
