Unfortunately I think it's going to be upheld. State constitutions can't violate the federal constitution, so using the Christianity example, that couldn't happen because freedom of religion is guaranteed by the federal Constitution. But marriage hasn't normally been considered an inherent right guaranteed by the Constitution(like freedom of religion, speech, etc), so from a strictly legal point of view, states are currently free to amend their constitutions to address it if they want. Hell, you could vote to ban twinkies in your state's constitution if you wanted to.
So I'm assuming it will get upheld, but I'm not sure where they can go from there. I'm not sure if they could try to vote again in CA to make marriage available to everyone, or if they'd have to go to a federal level, or what.
This country has stupid laws. How is not allowing Christians to discriminate going against their religious rights? It does not matter, I know things will change soon and we will get what we want.
Also it seems like they might allow the currently married gay couples to keep their marriage, since they did it when it was "legal”.
