Sorry I haven't been around LJ much :P I started community college for worker retraining  full time January 4th and I'm still getting adjusted to the work load. The government did pay my tuition for this quarter, so big yay to that! I need to get financial aid for spring though ( Read more... )

I hear you on the part about classmates being super young. I started learning Japanese 2 months back and everyone there is like aged 17 to below 30!

It's a funny feeling huh? How are your Japanese studies coming? It seems like a very difficult language to me!

Oh no, I LMAO'ed on the middle-aged math comment! It must be a bit of a shock going back to school and class schedule.

You should get a better camera (when you have funds :P). $300-$500 can go a long way with cameras now a days!

It was so funny when she was asking me, but I could tell she was sincere so I couldn't laugh! hehe The class schedule is fine, it's actually the online class that is kicking my butt!

There is definitely a better camera in my future, it's just hard to chose one. Which dSLR do you have?

I have the Canon Rebel xT. Got it years ago at Costco for $600? I think they're down to about $400 or $500 now. It's a good workhorse. My only problem is that the shutter speed isn't fast enough for really sunny days so my pics end up very washed out. It's only an 8 megapixel camera... must have more pixels! LOL

I've been eyeing the Nikon D90 (or D300 now at Costco). But any upgrade I get will be around $1200-$2000, so I'm reluctant! I also need a wide angle lens. I guess I should sell a kenner or 2 :P

That's a good camera esp for $600 a few years ago! I hear ya on the shutter speed though. Does changing your ISO or white balance help with the washed out photos?

Regarding shutter speed here is an interesting article that Jacki showed me yesterday: http://consumerist.com/cgi-bin/mt/mt-search.cgi?IncludeBlogs=1&limit=20&search=camera+pixels

I know that Canon took their latest G11 down to 10 mps from the G10's 14 mps, so some camera companies are actually listening to science ;) The lens are SO expensive for all cameras! Blergh. That's one of the reasons I am thinking about a micro four thirds with zoom or a Canon G11 because you don't have to have extra lenses. The D90 is a kick ass camera! I wish I could afford one!

LOL at middle aged math! If you want to fit in do what I did when I had to take the ACT - look confused and wear a hoodie.

You are so dead on about the hoodie!! Also I need to not reply when the teacher walks in and says "Good morning!". That's definitely not helping. But how can I let her just hang there with her good morning and no response?!
