Guitar Hero World Tour v. Rock Band -- Discuss!

For my first post in 2 months, I've picked a totally frivolous topic. Given my current state of mind (due to studying for the bar), this is about all I can muster.

Thanks to a generous friend who gave ma an Amazon.com gift card, I picked up a copy of Guitar Hero World Tour. Played it yesterday for the first time, and here are my thoughts.

I've only gotten a few glances at GH World Tour on the Wii. I tend to like Rock Band and RB2 more for pretty much the reasons you describe. I'm really frustrated by GH's UI.
The biggest issue that's blocked me from the previous GH games, however, is that I can't play with the GH guitar very well. Due to previous surgery and issues with my left hand I am unable to spread my fingers too far appart, so I can't reach both the green and orange buttons without causing significant pain. When I play RB I can use the lower frets on the guitar, which don't work in GH. Actually, there's a question for you. I know I can't play GH2 or GH3 with the Rock Band guitar lower fret keys, but can I play GHWT with the lower frets? I haven't gotten to play the game on Xbox.

Yes, you get full RB guitar functionality in GH:WT. I was using my RB guitar last night with no problems. I don't like the GH guitars for the same reason you cited.

You play with the lower frets?

Darn that I don't have the extra cash to pick up GHWT right now. :S

I play with both -- depends on what I am doing on the guitar.

Happy to hear you are having at least a little bit of fun during your major cram session.

I played this over at my Brothers house over the holidays, really enjoyed it. Got better at the drums. I didn't play rock band enough to be able to compare. I did make a really hot avatar, though.

I'm planning on getting the GH:WT disc just for the Ozzy songs. It's a crime that "Crazy Train" isn't on RB.
