Did you know fanfiction.net currently holds over 11,000 BTR fics? That is so much fanfiction. When you're used to reading fic on livejournal and then find out your new fandom uses a site other than lj for most of its fic, it can be jarring. Especially when that site is fanfiction.net. To an outsider, that place can seem like a portal to hell where ( Read more... )

You know, I've heard hellish tales of ff. net, but my experience there has been fine; I only post, don't read, and I hate their formatting and editing tools, but I've gotten good reviews and a fair amount of hits. I've yet to post any BTR fic there - only Harry Potterverse, and its been a while now - but I guess my experience has been surprisingly good? I'll have to go check the BTR stuff with my big boots on.

Do I read fic there? Yes, it's where I first started in fanfiction, and will always love that site! I read more on ff.net than I do on LJ, only because everything is easier to find. Also, if something is too well written, I can't read it- it makes me think too hard xD

I have an account on there, but I don't really use it anymore. I don't write fic since 2009-2010, really. I have no plot bunnies anymore.

I don't think there is anything such as "badfic". I can go on and on about this subject, tbh. People write because they like it. It shouldn't be something to stress over and make sure everything is "perfect". And like you said, some authors on there are 13. When I was 13, I just wrote to write. Not because I wanted to do anything with it. I did it because it was fun. So older, more experienced writers/people shouldn't go around labeling all that as "badfic". It's just fic.

Just my opinion.

OOH OOH I WANT TO PLAY THIS GAME.

Do you read fic on fanfiction.net? Yeeeeees. Okay not as much now but still.

What about that site appeals to you over livejournal? Easier to post, easier to leave feedback if you're too intimidated to review (via alerts/faves although that's annoying as fuck when people only alert/fave or they alert/fave EVERYTHING), and more new fic every day.

Do you have an account there? Do you post your own BTR fic there? Absolutely, since 2001 man, and yes yes yes.

Do you read all the badfic and laugh quietly to yourself? Um okay maybe but only when my evilevilevil friends force me to I swear. Or when people rant about shit on Tumblr and I want to know what they're talking about. Mostly I read fic from other fandoms on ffn though.

If you do read fic there, what are some of your favorites? Think of this post as your opportunity to show everyone in BTR fandom the wonders of the fic that exists at fanfiction.net. Pretend that no one here has read any fic there. Which fics do you recommend? Ummmmm okay I've ( ... )

Do you read fic on fanfiction.net? I used to when I first discovered fanfiction in 2005, 2006 or something. It's where I found my first slash fic and where I first started posting my own fics... but I haven't been there much since then. It's just so hard to find the good fics, and I usually just don't want to waste my time going through tons of bad!fic to get to the good ones. The only way I would voluntarily read a fic on ff.net would be if someone rec'ed one - and I guess that's the purpose of this fic, so... maybe I will get back to reading fics there! :D

What about that site appeals to you over livejournal? Nothing. You're technically not supposed to post NC-17 stuff, you can't post RPF/RPS to it... what's the point of that site? :P I'll keep posting my fics to my LJ and AO3 account.

Do you have an account there? Yup. Rarely use it, though, because it always fucks up my formatting >:C

Do you post your own BTR fic there? I haven't written anything BTR yet, so... nope. :)

Do you read all the badfic and laugh quietly to yourself? ( ... )

Yeah my experience has been that all of the good authors over there *cough Cassie cough* are over here too! Lol so why waste my time burning my eyes out with their/ they're/ there errors?

Exactly!! :D The first BTR fics I read were on AO3, and even there, I had to stop reading a few cause they were just... yeah. Not very good. But then I discovered a few authors over there, discovered more HERE, so... who needs ff.net? XD
I'd only go to ff.net if someone rec'ed a fic... but even with recs, I'm usually a little sceptical. :D
