Heartbreak Ships: The 'Shipper Complaint Thread

Jan 15, 2009 08:49

We won't judge you here.

This is the thread where you can complain LOUDLY (if you like) about your favorite BSG 'ship (romantic or friendship) and how RDM gleefully destroyed it, probably just to cause you personal painYou may be surprised but my Heartbreak 'Ship was Caprica/Boomer. I thought they were safe from RDM's evil non-plot, but lo, I was ( Read more... )

I... always had a fondness for Kara/Lee.

Once Sam *reall* came into the picture, I knew it would never happen and that made me sad. Because season one Lee and Kara? Really felt like they were building something. :(

And intellectually, I understand how the two leads really can't get together, but a lot of the really unnatural relationship stuff of season 2,3,and 4 really seemed aimed intentionally to drive apart a fairly natural relationship instead of building new relationships. I mean, how much of a doormat is Sam? Because Kara cheats on him and calls him sloppy seconds and the guy she married for pure convienence and spite....what exactly is he getting out of this?

Cylons seem to have the hots for Kara. Which probably means something stupid.

And I'll agree. When Lee and Kara's banter, hell, their frienship was destroyed, a big chunk of the show's charm and heart went with them.

IMHO, Sam Anders is a symbol of almost everything that went wrong with BSG. No offense to the actor, but the character just made everything suck.

I AGREE WITH EVERYTHING STATED HERE.
and with much vehemence!

I'm a recovering pilots shipper. Pilots used to be my life, dude. MY LYYYYYF. 2005 was pretty much the year of Pilots consuming me and then destroying my soul. (o dramatize, lizzen!!!) But damn, that ship burned me up good - I can vaguely ship them now and when I see them actively be shippy together, I'm sort of squeeful -- but ultimately, it's like taking too much ecstasy or something-- I'll never reach that high again. I don't even have a pilots icon anymore and my icon harem used to be full of them.

And yes, I blame it mostly on Samuel T. Anders, who, despite ending up being a robot with angst (a trope that I love everywhere else), I HATE WITH AN IRRATIONAL PASSION.

Dude, not just Cylons, everyone has the hots for Kara Thrace. She is smokin'!
That is, 'til I dunno, mid s3? (I'd have to re-watch). Her character went from being badass to being crazy/stupid. I miss badass Starbuck. (Maybe it was Anders, after all...)

My whine: a friend of mine told me to just forget the webisodes exist, because honestly, Gaeta/Hoshi, out of the blue, is just... out of the blue. (And Gaeta can do so much better! Hoshi's all frumpy!) I thought if *anyone* it'd be Dee. (Dee with Lee was also out of the blue, like, to pair her up with *someone* after Billy died as a consolation because she's too pretty to be alone...)

Most of the pairings make me cringe (man, Tyrol/Callie and then Callie-gone-batshit)... Baltar makes me cringe, in any form.

My biggest surviving BSG ship, of course, is Kara/Leoben which has the huge heartbreak hiccup of him kidnapping her. And while I really dig the trope of the lady in the tower held by a lovesick villain (and dude, I love that), it sort of really taints the ship. WHICH SADDENS ME A LOT.

I loved where the ship went this last season and I can't wait to see how it works in s4 -- but I keep forgetting to tell myself that Ron D Moore will fuck this one up again. Don't get your hopes too high, doll.

Oh, I would have loved to see more of Boomer/Caprica! I've never read them like that but that's probably because we saw so little of them together in the first place. I loved the little we saw. If nothing else, it would have been nice to see two women share a friendship on the show. The bits of Elosha/Roslin were nice but I really, really would have loved to see Cally and Racetrack hanging out, or Dee forming a friendship with Sharon (now there's a pairing I would adore), that kind of thing. But we only ever see male/male, male/female friendships. (it is very nice to see m/f friendships on BSG. There aren't a lot of these in television either ( ... )

That Cavil/Ellen business made me want to spork my eyes out and that wasn't because of Ellen, that's for sure. Also with Tigh getting laid more often onscreen than Gaeta -- excuse me, I love you Mike Hogan - but OMGNOE. THAT ISN'T RIGHT.

Baltar is my definition of a guy with a social disease - while not unpleasant to look at in the face, keep those trousers on and the oozing warts in their place, plz.

I liked Cally/Tyrol in theory. In reality, yeah, destroyed horribly. YEP. DESTROYED.

I actually thought it was infinitely cool that Ellen whored herself for Tigh. And with Cavil no less! That's true love. I was very impressed with that scene.

I did however start hating it five minutes later when the show didn't bother pointing out that she's a heroine. As if they hadn't noticed! I'm terribly afraid they really didn't.

I agree with everything you've said here! Especially about Baltar. Seriously, what? What were those girls thinking *shakes head*.

I think it's a more of a question of "What ship hasn't been shot out of the air, run over by a semi, picked at by crows, run over again, and left to rot in the 100 degree sun" by the show? (Too graphic? :P)

I'm a huge A/R fan, and I have been since season 1, tyvm :P (no offense to others who came later, of course :)). And I am scared for this season, because I am 100% sure RDM's going to frak it over so hard, and I'm going to cry and throw things at my TV.

I also miss the good days of Kara and Lee...friendship with sexual tension. Then Anders came, and, well that's been covered.

Tigh and Caprica. What to say about that. It sounded interesting when I heard the spoilers, interesting in the "train wreck, you can't look away" sort of thing. But now I'm with the *headdesk* crowd, because as a viewer I was shown Tigh and Caprica in a room, what, twice? I'm supposed to believe he was laying her? Um, no.

Batlar should be FORCED to take holy orders. then made into a enuch.
slowly. No disrespect to James Callis who is a fantastic actor. Baltar make me hate him but I'm damned if I know why he is so fucking riveting. Sam and Dee they've suffered enough at the hands of their spouses. or Dee with Tyrol/Helo/Stinger/Narcho/Felix and Leoben. I can't help it. It has been lurking there for over 3 years!

I am so sad!
