We put Winnie to sleep this afternoon. She was eight years old, and had spent the last five years with us after we picked her up from an animal shelter in Pittsburgh. I'm writing this mostly because it's easier to type than to talk right now.

lovely memorial service.

Tuesday night my grandmother (who is 96) was placed in ICU for something whose name I can't remember - a whole body infection is how I think it was described. Because of directives in her living will, she was off life support and the only thing keeping her alive yesterday was a dopamine drip keeping her blood pressure up ( Read more... )

Added later, when I could say it; the comments below were made before the edit, just so no one thinks my friends are horrible people. Saw a horrible accident Friday night, or at least the aftermath.
