you might also want to play with OpenNMS (vs Zabbix). I have deployed Zabbix before and it feels really hacky to me....

MmmmmmmJava. I think I'll wait and see how I feel about Zabbix before going too deep down that rabbit hole. :)

Just don't leave the Zabbix people your contact information. Between them and Hyperic (the other monitoring/load solution I was testing) my desk phone rings way too often.

Thanks for chatting with me about network monitoring yesterday. I probably wasn't easy to deal with since what I want is pretty weird, but I appreciate your experience in the subject. :)
