First post here. Feel free to poke fun at me, as well. Not sure if this has been done before, but the book's certainly deserving of a good snark or 10.
First, the cover, which can be found over at Dibbly Fresh.
"Oh, Dad," I told him, exasperated. "You don't have to worry. Everyone knows that in Stoneybrook you don't hit puberty until your seventh consecutive year in 8th grade!"
This book was published in 1996. Why are they still wearing leggings???
Oy, I was still wearing leggings (with snazzy Marks and Spencer patterned jumpers) in 1996. Then again, I was ten and not a supercool teenager with amazing fashion sense.
I know, right? I always wondered what happened when babysitting jobs happened to run over meeting times. Do all the parents of Stoneybrook just accept that the cult member watching their kid at the time will drop everything to attend the dang meetings? Man, if that's the case, then Stoneybrook adults are even lamer than we thought.
She is so fucking insecure. She flips out if they have a job that goes into a meeting, or if a client calls and asks for someone specific, or if they're really sick and can't take jobs (Mallory)...
I think she just makes up rules on the spot to make herself more powerful - who's with me?
Great snark! + 10 for the Producers reference. And I can't believe I'm agreeing with Robert, but he's right about Kristy and the glue. How much can glue possibly cost? A couple of bucks? I know that they make a dollar or maybe two on each job, so it might take them a while to make up the difference, but really. Buy a stick of glue, Kristy. Live dangerously!
Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to the next installment!
Glue sticks are, at most, a buck fifty. Most run well under a dollar. Whoa-oa, they might break the bank with their unrestrained spending habits! Watch out!
I remember them making $3/hr for some reason. Do I remember wrong?
