Sometimes I wonder if the other ghostwriters had thoughts about the way the girls are written. "Ann, do you really want to keep this in? Their behavior is rather disturbing. It'd probably fit in perfectly for a fucked up Lifetime movie but somehow I don't think it fits here?"

i seem to remember ellen miles writing a lot of boring damned books, or at least, her books have a lot of boring fucking filler in them. the only ghostwriter i really enjoy is lerangis. i feel like he was on our side&thought we readers needed a laugh. every other ghostwriter was kind of a snore fest most of them time. :P

&i fucking HATE CLAIRE!!! i'd love to smack the crap out of her&ann too!! i wonder if ann has any idea how much shit her now grown-up readers talk about her&her books?? i doubt it. she'd probably shit a brick.

Thank you! I never can tell the ghosties writing styles apart but I've been trying to pay more attention as I snark. The only one I really notice is Suzanne Weyn who always writes everyone as hideously fucked up bitches. Her and Ann writing together is like a cocktail of arsenic and strychnine

Yeah, I was reading about Beverly Cleary and people always said she knew how to write for kids really well. That she knew her audience. Now that I think about it, I never hear anything about Ann's writing. There's no criticism or praise, there's just nothing. It's really weird. I feel like we should all get together and write essays on why her writing is so toxic. Let the world know!

Ann totally fails at writing a cute kid. On purpose. When she writes an actually likable kid, it's totally on accident and she wanted them to be hated. Karen bullies. Karen lies. Karen steals. Karen snots. Karen does basically all the things that make you want to bitch slap a child and she gets away with it! I can see if she was trying to do simple wish fulfillment, but you can't write a kid getting away with everything and expect people not to hate her. If she had just made her a rich kid but still nice about it, that would still fall under the wish fulfillment umbrella without making her a total brat
