Oh dear god, I hadn't seen the new cover before. I hate to say it, but that was more stylish in the 80's than the dress on the original cover. I loved the original cover dress so much that I made it in real life many years ago.

K-Ron bitches about having to move across town to Watson’s and how she’ll miss her friends and how hard it is, and fuck you cow, I just moved to another fucking state, coming from an area where my family and in-laws all lived a twenty minute cab ride. To be fair, in the 80's, this was a big deal. We like to rag on Charlie for being her driver, but if it wasn't for that boy, her friendships would have ended. There aren't buses in that town, and long distance was sometimes pretty close. When I was 10, back in 1991, I found out that prime distance was 7-13 miles, and long distance was beyond that. Prime distance cost the most, and was the ring where family and friends were who weren't right by you were likely to live, and the phone companies loved ( ... )

I don't think David Michael's room is an actual closet. Just small. When the Perkinses move in, I believe his room becomes baby Beth's, and babies have a lot of furniture (crib, changing table, dresser, rocking chair, toys...)which implies that it is an actual room. I think it's probably just smaller than the other rooms.

oh my god, that second cover!!! that's so fucking horrendous i can't even stand it!!
this book was such bullshit. i re-read it a few months back&was just blown away by the stupidity of it. i get that ann is stuck in the 50s, but seriously, two full grown adults can live in the same damned house without being married first. they've both been married, divorced&had children, i really fucking doubt people in town will talk smack about them living together before the damned wedding. this seems like a mix of ann's very old school morality shit&her need to create drama for her books. utterly stupid.
