How is Carol trying to be one of them again? All she's done is make conversation and drive you guys places. It's very nice of Carol to offer to drive them places. It's not like the BSC can drive, so without Carol, what the hell are they supposed to do? It's kind of a pain in the ass when you're on vacation and you don't have transportation to go places. When we visit Trinidad, we're basically stuck at my grandparents' house because we don't like to ask the family for rides because we don't want to inconvenience them and the traffic is heavy ( ... )

Carol isn't doing a Goddamn thing like pretending to be one of them. All she does drive and talk to them. She's committing the crime of being friendly. It's like Dawn wants her to just drive them around and not say a word like she's fucking hired help. And you KNOW if Carol did that Dawn would be bitching! 'God, she's so stuck-up! Why doesn't she SAY something?!' Because nobody can do right in Dawn's eyes.

Yeah, Kristy's attitude about her skills as a sitter is mad annoying. Half the time I can't even articulate my hate of her because my brain just snaps and the word 'Fuck' just takes over everything. And I can do Dawn and the Older Boy if you like! I just need to finish this crap and Snowbound.

Thank you so much! I'm glad you're enjoying it! My guess is that since Ann doesn't know shit from shinola, she doesn't realise that you can over treat your hair and damage it. Because she's stupid enough not to know that you can't dye hair a colour lighter then it's original. Frankly, I wish Mal's hair did get super damaged because I hate her in this book.

Right? US is expensive! It's an amusement park! Those places are never cheap. So, MA and K. Ron are probably asking their clients to drop near $100 at the last minute. And that's not even counting money for food and souvenirs. But Ann lives in a world where baby-sitters getting paid pennies on the hour have enough to go on shopping sprees and buy all kinds of clothes and shit.

Ah, yes. I love that bat too. It's from John Dies at the End, an excellent movie and even more excellent book. I highly recommend it if you have Netflix. I kinda want to make my own, but that tiny speck of Christianity clinging to my soul is like 'Sacrilege!'

i love this snark&have to say, i hated this book too. bsc were a total bag of dicks in this one. most notably dawn&mal. mal's internal bitching about jessi was just...ugh. it made me angry even as a kid that she said she wasn't going to say anything cuz she might need to borrow more money, that was just awful. it always made me feel uncomfortable reading that bit&i always kinda liked mal (related in a way - i have a big family, wanted to be a writer, got dumped on a ton, etc), but that part of the book always icked me out. FUCK, mallory!

&yeah, seriously! has she no shame? they all got the same amount of money, she flushed share down the toilet, nobody owes her a cent of theirs. using people seems to be the way of the bsc though, so maybe this seems like totally normal, acceptable behaviour to them all by now? very, very disappointing.
