Dawn wakes up wondering where she is. Since I’ve read the line where am I in books where the main character was kidnapped, I’m going to assume Dawn was kidnapped. I'll go with "hallucinated from the 'organic' mushrooms she ate and passed out in a garbage truck". Or better yet, "in a bulk candy bin".
Carol is younger than Dawn’s dad. Why does that matter? My mom’s younger than my dad. It's not like they're Jay and Gloria from Modern Family. Although that's partly because Jay and Gloria are too awesome.
Dawn has to write an autobiography. That seems like an odd assignment to give eighth graders, but maybe it’s because nothing really exciting happened to me at that age so I would have had nothing to write.I actually got this assignment when I was 11 and had a hell of a time writing it for exactly this reason. I remember having to write "The most interesting thing about where I live is..." and answering "we don't get Channel 3." Since the beginning of time, everyone hated the ocean. Even sharks were like "Man, fuck the ocean, I'm living on the land." Then one day, an individual so unique she wore necklaces that said "I'm Awesome" liked the ocean. Newspapers around the world reported it. Never, had anyone ever had any interest in oceans or beaches. Dawn was later declared most individual person ever to exist.
And what? Nobody ever told Dawn she'd be getting a younger sibling? Isn't that the sort of thing parents discuss with their kids, even really young ones? Jenny's parents told her about a new baby, if I recall.
Would she have to take long showers to wash her hair? Wouldn’t it take a little longer to wash long hair?
I used to have ridiculously long hair and I would take up to an hour in the shower. So yeah, I expect that she does have to take long showers. So good for the enviroment! Just another reason why I said screw it and got a pixie cut. I don't need those kind of water bills.
Why did she get caught up in pageant madness and the desire to prove that she was the very best sitter like no one ever was?

Maybe they don’t like shoes. I despise wearing closed shoes.
Oh, man. Same here. I never wear shoes at home. And when I go out I almost always wear flip-flops. Sometimes I'll take the time to wear my sneakers or boots but not often. Besides, it's so flipping hot to wear anything else. Because of it my friends say I'm Toph and I'm cool with that.
Young Dawn was worse than Karen. >_> Someone in another snark of this book mentioned that Dawn sounded far too much like a tween in a six-year-old's body about the whole "EWWW SUNNY IS *WEIRD*" thing.
Karen just strikes me as someone who just gets everything she wants, mostly by the BSC. But she's also got divorced parents, and that damn Watson just runs away when it's her weekend with him so the BSC can babysit. Like what man, see your daughter.
