My god Karen is a little shit. It's books like this that really show why, though. Lisa and Watson let her get away with everything. It boggles me that Lisa just let her spend the $100 on whatever she wanted. I mean, I get that Karen is only seven years old and most kids are greedy, but total parental fail on Lisa's part for not taking the time to actually parent Karen.

too much hilarity... I love how she gives the money and proudly tells Lisa she gave away 10$ and then when she realizes she does not get to keep the790$, suddenly Nancy and Bobby have to give back the money... There is no mention that Lisa was going to demand Karen return the 10$, not even when she was given 100$... I love how in almost all situations Nancy has brains and will stand up to Karen... Love it...

I also love what a brat Karen is- you're given 100$ and then you're angry about not getting more... oh man Karen

Karen is evil. Trufax.

Okay, maybe not evil, but she's definitely a little greedy guts and should be ashamed for expecting the guy to give her HALF of the money he'd lost because.....why now? She was lucky his idea of reward wasn't $5! Seriously...I get her father is a "real live millionaire" but shouldn't that make her a little less money hungry since she can get Daddy to buy her anything? Sheesh.

Can't wait for the "shocking conclusion!" And I'm looking forward to seeing you snark "Karen's Wedding"...I laughed my way through that book. "Karen's Half Birthday" is pretty fucktastic too. Enjoy! XD

I'm looking forward to it myself, especially if it's the one I think it is.

I remember reading this when I was a kid and being shocked at how Karen felt like she was entitled to keep the money or half of it as a reward. Also it's hilarious how little that money would buy if this book was set in current times; going to the movies is like 50 bucks for 3 people (including the snack bar).

I do sort of get why Karen got on Bobby's and Nancy's case about the ten dollars. They assured her that it was okay to keep the money and then pressured her to "split it" with them. If she'd been less selfish and gave them a third each or $100 each and then found out OH NOES I CAN'T KEEP THIS MONEH, and they kept it and let her get in huge trouble, that would be dickish.

I guess I just feel like all three of them were little assholes to think you don't have to turn in eight hundred freaking dollars, not just Karen.

What's funny about Karen wanting to be "that Funland girl" is that $800 probably wouldn't even cover it. That shit's expensive. I remember going to Sea World 20 years ago and this foot-high stuffed penguin I wanted was forty dollars. These days you can barely get a keychain for less than $10 or $12.
