So jadore_histoire, 3_foot_6 and I are all a little confused about something, as I think many of you are.

As some of you have noticed, certain posts have begun being put into a queue. The problem is that this is seemingly random; we can't figure out whose posts are being queue'd (new word, heh) or why. I've tried to remove this feature but am not sure I was successful. We ( Read more... )

I just joined so I don't think I qualify for the poll, heh. As for the bonus, there's a character on the show Skins UK named Grace that's a black ballerina. Personality wise she's nothing like Jessi and her blackness is not shoved in your face every ten seconds, but I thought it was cool since bsc was my childhood obsession and Skins is my teenage one.

For some reason, London Tipton always reminded me of Claudia Kishi. Claudia is no where near as dumb as London, but if the BSC were a comedy series, I could see Claudia's personality trait becoming flanderized to that point. I think it's is because they are both Asian and a little dumb and I really hate the Asian air headed trope because it is usually used as a means to be "unique" by avoiding the smart Asian stereotype instead of making them whole characters. (Seriously, are there any Asians of average intelligence or where there intelligence doesn't define their character ( ... )

Pretty much any self righteous granola girl from any kid or teen series reminds me of Dawn, simply because these characters only use passion and not facts to argue their point and they are always in the right.

I think writers believe you have to have a generic granola girl, although they're typically also a bit more political/social than Dawn was - IIRC the only thing she ever did that could be interpreted as socio-political comentary was when she refused to participate in Spirit Week because she was a nonconformist.

A few other comms I'm in have been having this problem. They found that any post that contained links to any website that isn't LJ was auto queue'd for mod approval before appearing. The only solution they found was for the mods to add websites to the comm's whitelist, which I know nothing about since I don't mod any comms. I know enough to know that that doesn't sound like much of a solution. It was some kind of feature LJ slipped in with the last update. A feature that they apparently didn't talk about much. I have no idea if you guys have checked into this, it may be old news to you, but I thought I'd mention it.

I saw the whitelist thing and wondered if it was related! But I can't imagine why not agreeing to that would block people from posting. I think I'll contact support, because that doesn't sound right.

Yeah, my latest non-snark post had a link so it was blocked. Same when I put a link in a comment once.

It's totally related - I noticed that right off when I saw what had been unqueued. All those posts had links in them to stuff not normally linked to in this comm ( ... )

In the horror trope of the blond character in horror films that gets killed off first - that's Dawn.

Or Stacey, depending on if the film is meant to be part porn or not.

The Bridesmaids movie: Rita, Megan, and Becki remind me of Stacey, Kristy, and Mary Anne, respectively. I especially like to imagine that Megan is what Kristy grows up to be.
