Super Special #11 The Baby-sitters Remember - Jessi

Jul 14, 2011 01:24

Prologue/Kristy
Stacey
Claudia

And onto Jessi’s story... I’ve always hated her handwriting, because it’s so damn loopy and swirly. Though if you asked the writer, I probably hate her handwriting because she’s black.

For a little kid, you made an awfully big change in my life. )

didn't Jessi always describe Daddy's voice as " rich chocolate" or something like that? Like he had that deep velvety voice or something?

Word about Mr. R and the rest of the family ignoring about how the girls felt about the new baby. I guess that's typical for what Stoneybrook parents were though. Thinking that their kids are mini adults who can handle big life changes just fine.

They could have had the girls help pick out the baby's things or something to make them feel included. I don't remember if they mentioned having the girls do anything like that.

I do remember Jessi not knowing how to spell colic and kept thinking about cauliflower. Hehe.

I like to imagine Jessi's father sounding like James Earl Jones, but Alan Rickman is even better!!!

Okay, you totally get bonus points for not just mentioning IT, but remember Patrick Hocksetter's name. Love that book! I hope someday they do another mini-series for it or even try a movie, since they really blew the first one, imo, outside of Tim Curry, who gave me a life time fear of clowns.

Great snark! I rarely read snarks for books I haven't read yet, but this was gold...lol. Just what my flu-fever raddled brain needed. ;)

I knows my Stephen King! (Didn't even have to look it up, which is good because the book is buried somewhere in a box in the trunk of my car...) Oh man, another miniseries would be AWESOME!

Why thank you! :) I do try.

I know, right? Stacy's is only from about two years ago, and Dawn's is from about a year ago too! Logan's is from LESS than a year ago, sorta, and so is Shannon's. It's like "really? That's it? ...Forreal? Come on now."

maybe they had so many of the sitters' "most vivid" memories be so recent because they were afraid that people wouldn't be interested in hearing about their childhoods or something.

Or maybe they were just lazy writers. :P

I would have liked to have seen more stories about the sitters' childhoods. Those were fun to read.

Seriously! Mary Anne's is one of my favorites because it's something that's not one of her character traits (like Stacey's diabetes and Kristy's babysitting and Mal's writer...ness...thingy), but is actually something sort of random that just really stood out to her.

Jessi lets her little sister run rampant around the house, and... sits down to write a letter. Stellar baby-sitter there, Jessi.
Some continuity?!

He’s called Squirt because-shock, awe-he’s very tiny, due to being preterm! Go figure!
In my mind, the origin will always be pee-related, courtesy of one snarker on here.

Also, icon love!
