Hey all, I'm trying my hand at snarking again. My first attempt was way back in early 2008 and I sadly never finished it as I lost my muse. But that's not going to happen this time, I promise. :D

Your snark is MADE OF WIN! :D I can't wait to read more.
And yeah, the unrealism (is that even a word?) in this book is freaking epic... it's been a bad year for me financially so making my yearly Christmas Bags O' Awesome for friends involved quite a few handmade gifts and some tiny, thoughtful things. I managed to get some cool stuff for about $20 per bag but I'm 33 years old with a full time job. How the HELL did MA do $30-$40 per friend!? I wish they'd tell us what the bill came to... I'm thinking it'd be somewhere around $300+ ... poor Richard!
When Mary Anne's dad gave her his credit card to use, he evidently didn't inform her about paying interest. Because he tells her after she purchased the gifts with it she has to pay interest, she literally goes "Huh?" as though it's the first time she ever heard of interest. It actually appears out of character for him not to have advised Mary Anne about interest beforehand since he usually does all he can to protect her, which I'd think would include explaining everything under the sun in minute detail (whether MA appreciated it or not). Another fail for Suzanne Weyn.
By the sounds of things, he did try to explain it before but she brushed it off, and it's only after she's brought down to earth with a thud that she starts listening and worrying about it.
I started snarking this book last year and never finished - I love that stuff you've picked up on is the EXACT same stuff I had problems with - Mallory's photo album and the beef/tofu stew for example!
