And your heart held out like a tin cup to catch the rain

Umm... uh-oh. See, I had a great excuse all worked out, but you had to go and ruin it for me by reminding me that I should be spending some time working on that. Of all the mean things...

At least you rec'ed 'Shadows Tumble,' though. That totally made up for it.

Ha! Says the guy who asked me what the upper word limit should be! ;) If you need extra time, though, that's cool--just let us know. :) And if it makes you feel any better, I have all of two sentences of my fic, and I have no excuse for being late. Hee.

Isn't that a gorgeous song? I don't know why we were denied it here in the US. Where's the love, Jeff?

I'm sorry work has been so difficult. And while I know change is unsettling, hopefully your replacement co-workers will also be people you enjoy.

(Also--your job doesn't normally entail a constant stream of deadlines and crises? I thought that was an essential part of technical writing. Huh!)

And aw! Poor puppydog. I can imagine how frazzled y'all must be since he hasn't been getting enough exercise to tire him out. I wish him a speedy recovery and return to doggy daycare.

We utterly failed, much like the CW utterly failed to promote this "event"; if Jason Dohring was there, we missed him.

You guys are the worst stalkers ever! But I'm glad you got the refi out of the way. One of the worst months I ever spent was the month I applied for a mortgage. I think I also accidentally went $200 over on my cell phone minutes. That month sucked.

Yeah, so far we've seen my manager talking to a woman who used to work on this team, but who is apparently (literally) bipolar, so that's not doing much for my optimism about replacements, but we'll see. :) I know my level of job stress is nowhere near yours, so I feel bad complaining about it... and yet I do it anyway!

Thanks for the good wishes for the puppydog... I hope we're all much happier by next week. :)

And yes, seriously, clearly SDW and I could not stalk the broad side of a barn. It was sort of tempting to hang around just to see if he showed up, since there wasn't anyone there and it would have been a good opportunity to actually talk to him, there were no signs about celebrity guests or anything, so I'm about 80% sure that something fell through and we would've just wasted our whole day at the mall for nothing.

drowned our sorrows with massive rum-based beverages at the Rainforest Café

Don't forget that they were in light-up glasses. And we had a thunderstorm every half hour.

what SDW and I plan and what actually occurs ain't ever exactly been similar

Hee. Truer words.

I'm looking forward to potentially getting back to my usual quota of internet fucking-about soon.

WOOHOO!

(That is all. Except that it isn't. I also hope that work stops being stupid and that your puppy finishes getting better soon. And also that I could have light up drinks with the two awesomest people in Seattle. ;D)

Jeeeeezuz. It's been a hell of a week for you, hasn't it? I'm really sorry that I keep missing you on the phone...I've been logging some crazy hours myself lately (two trips up to NH with the day job...I'm working about 50 hours for my "part time job" this week. And doing gigs! However, I get Daisy Time soon, so it's all worth it.)

I hope the job stuff straightens out soon...I should be home for at least a little while on Sat., if you want to call and vent.

Don't you just love the Rainforest Cafe? It's over the top, but great in its own way...I'm not much for the light-up drinks, but I'm a big fan of their voluminous man salads. RFC is also a favorite of your niece's. :)

Talk to you soon?

Hi! No worries about the phone calls--I know you've been really busy. And we'll have at least a couple of days to actually hang out in person soon, so that will help. :) I'll try you on Saturday, though--what time do you think would be best?

Work is actually much better as of today, at least in terms of deadlines--I had a couple of huge projects hanging over my head that I've either finished or made significant progress on, so that's a big load off my mind. Though I have to do some job-shadowing stuff next week at the warehouse in Seattle that will require me to arrive at 5 in the morning for a couple of days... that will be interesting.

SDW and I were totally appreciative of the RFC--neither of us had ever been there before. Also, "voluminous man salads" is officially the funniest thing I have heard all day.
