I have seen The Avengers! And I really enjoyed it, though it did not hit me in the feelings the way Thor did (it is hilariously unsurprising, given my kinks, that that's my favorite of the Avengers movies to date). I think part of it was a question of expectations; ( mildly spoilery rambling )

Thor (the movie, but also the character) hit me in the feelings in a huge way. "HE'S ADOPTED," LOL MY FAVORITE LINE. (Of the ones I could hear, that is! My theater was laughing its collective ass off so I know I missed some dialogue.)

SHAWARMA. What Tumblr pointed out to me is that in that scene, Clint has a book in his lap and his feet on Natasha's chair. HOW DARE YOU, MOTHERFUCKER. HOW DARE YOU. (GIVE ME ALL THE CLINT/NATASHA YOU HAVE, FANDOM, DO IT NOW.)

THOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOR. I just really REALLY enjoy him; I was so happy when his golden retriever FACE showed up, and I loved that they carried through what he learned in his own movie into this one (though he is still laughably, endearingly blind about Loki; like, when he was essentially telling Loki, "Look at all this chaos you just created! We can fix this!" I was just like, OH HONEY, have you MET Loki?).

Clint has a book in his lap and his feet on Natasha's chair

EEEEEEEE I had noticed they were angled toward each other but not that level of detail. EEEEEEEEEE. GIVE ME THE FIC, PEOPLE. I WANT IT.

Thor has a blind spot the size of Texas about Loki and it makes me want to simultaneously smack him upside the head and smish him. HE JUST WANTS HIS BROTHER BAAAACK. ;_; Another friend mentioned that he did seem more mature than even end-of-his-movie Thor, saying stuff like "in my youth, I courted war." So I love that he was still the dude I love, but has taken what he's learned to heart.

ALSO, Clint calling Natasha "Nat" and "Tasha" was PRETTY DISGUSTING, I HATE THEM (GIVE ME FIC GIV ME FIC).

"in my youth, I courted war."

YES, that was another of my favorite lines; ALL THE FEEEEELINGS. <333333

And DUDE. MY NICKNAME KINK, LET ME SHOW YOU IT. LET ME SHOW YOU HOW THOSE TWO JERKS JUMPED ALL OVER IT.

I seem to be expressing my AVENGER'S feelings by downloading a lot of Thor/Loki fic that was written post-Thor and pre-Avengers. Ah, narrative kinks, I have them. Though I suspect you are there more for the Shakespeare in the Park and less for the "I just sometimes really want fic in which someone thinks he might be evil and also wants to sleep with his brother and is unsure if those two issues are related" aspects.

I think I also prefer Thor as a movie, partially for the Shakespeare in the Park aspects, and partially because it fails a good deal at the explodey scenes and instead focuses on the scenes in which people have overblown family drama about fate and betrayal, which just happen to occur on a shiny rainbow bridge to other worlds ( ... )

HEE, yes, I do like Thor partially for the Shakespeare In the Park aspects, but also I am a sucker for sibling relationships (and feeling in the shadow of a shinier sibling, HMMMM, that may perhaps be a thing I can identify with), and--which I think you are kind of saying--I felt like it was unusually character-driven, for an action movie. There was some explodey, but the big drama was mostly interpersonal (with periodic explodey), and I liked that a lot. It also didn't follow a lot of the typical (especially Marvel) origin-story cliches that basically go: getting powers > powers are cool! > powers are hard sometimes > powers are cool AND hard; I really really liked that Thor's heroic journey was about him becoming a hero in terms of his character, not in terms of smashing things with a big hammer. Also there were four pretty awesome women in that movie, and one of them was Sif, and Sif > everything, as far as I'm concerned, so. Yeah. I LOVED IT A LOT.

Shawaaaaarmaaaaaa. That the super cunning plan to hide Chris Evans' beardiness was "uhh, I dunno, keep your hand in front of your face?" pleases me far too much.

Despite shipping Clint/Natasha*, I only have one fic in my memories: one single static frame - postcardmystery. There's many new Clint/Natasha prompts on the kinkmeme, though! I live in hope someone fills them. I also kick myself for not bookmarking the few I read earlier. There's a short one that involves a mission and pretending to be married - if anyone knows what I'm talking about, link plz?

*...and Clint/Bobbi and Natasha/Bucky - I WILL TOTALLY HIJACK YOUR COMMENTS FOR RECS IN THAT DIRECTION /NO SHAME

I loved Thor for Thor, too! I mean, I also loved it for SIIIIIIIIF, and Loki was an amazing villain, and Darcy was fantastic, but yes. THOR. GOLDEN RETRIEVER OF SUPERHEROES. WITH HIS ADORABLE CHARMING WOOBIE FACE. <3333333333 And YES, Steve is pretty amazing as well, and YESSSSS about Natasha. I loved the line they walked with her between her being totally badass and yet not a ROBOT, either, like, yes, it is possible to be extremely competent and badass and still have feelings, thank you!

It is nice to be in the company of so many people who are in the "NOT ENOUGH THOR" camp. =)

I guess there's an interview on a bonus disc on one of the Buffy dvd sets where Joss Whedon tells a story about Nick Brendon's audition, and how afterward he cracked off about shawarma, and apparently that's the bit that Tony Stark throws out in the movie. ??? Pretty cool.

Also, Nick Brendan should get a screenwriting credit, or at least some cash thrown his way. *g*

Yeah, Chris Hemsworth did a great job with what he was given, but I missed the character-driven-ness of Thor... which was never what The Avengers was supposed to be, or even could have been, given the circumstances, but still. THOR. GOLDEN RETRIEVER OF SUPERHEROES. Heee.

And hee, that's hilarious about Nick Brendon!
