I've wanted this since I saw it, and only held back because I no longer live in a dorm. ALAS.

P.S. -- You know what else you can roast? thisficklemob October 26 2011, 20:43:21 UTC
Kale!

Kale chips (scroll down).

With slightly smaller pieces than called for (thanks to Trader Joe's washed, chopped, bagged kale), I found it cooked in as little as six minutes.

The key is to eat them right away, hot. If you refrigerate and reheat them, you get... well, kale with olive oil and salt, which isn't all bad if you're a kale fan, but I'm not.

I KNOW, those are FANTASTIC. And thank you for the roasted kale recipe! Roasting vegetables is MAGIC, seriously.

Now you've got me wanting to roast cauliflower for the people coming to dinner tomorrow.

I'm telling myself I have enough to do already, I don't currently have any cauliflower, and most importantly, the oven will be busy baking other key things like bread and pie.

ALLISON! I think I need to listen to some Allison like RIGHT NOW. (I hate that "Beat Me Up" is my favorite, because hello problematic title, but it's so freaking catchy. "Holiday" is badass, though.)

ALSO, I spent last night working on transcription and watching live To Have Heroes vids on breaks, and I finally came across a video where Andy doesn't mess up the lyrics to "Anodyne." And it made me UNREASONABLY HAPPY. I mean, it's not like I blame him and Dave for screwing them up - GREAT WHITE SHIPS, FOUR LAST HOOVES, ETC., WHAT ARE YOU DOING NEAL - but it cracks me up that they rarely if ever get it right.

I know, man, "Beat Me Up" is SO WRONG but SO CATCHY. Ugh. I'm so excited for her new stuff!

And OH MY GOD I was listening to Anodyne the other day--I think it might have been a live version, from one of the MWK shows last year--and Dave and Andy both screw up that part and I had basically the EXACT SAME THOUGHT. Like, for one thing, WHAT?, and then, relatedly, DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY KNOW THE WORDS TO THIS? And Dave really SHOULD, because he helped write it, and yet! (Though apparently he is using a teleprompter on this tour because he just has that much trouble remembering lyrics. AWWW.) Oh, that song. I just kind of want to pat it on the head. Like, there are great things about it, but there are parts that are just. GUYS. TOO EMO. PHONES AND HEARSES CANNOT BE IN SUCH CLOSE PROXIMITY. Hee.

I love the vibe of that song, but the lyrics are sometimes...yeaaah. *Pats them onna head* I just wonder who wrote that bit that they always fuck up! Like, was it Neal, and if so, is Neal sitting there after shows being like YOU GUYS. SCARS. FINAL WAX. OBSTACLES. GREAT WHITE SHIPS. FEET. HOOVES. with, like, a chalkboard and a pointer or something.

There is one performance from the Declaration tour that I love, where Dave completely changes the lyrics and says something like "we are left unfailing." I actually love Dave singing this song, I think his voice works really well for it. Andy too, but, like, it doesn't bother me seeing vids of Dave singing "Anodyne," but it bugs me when he does "Make Me" because "Make Me" is SUCH AN ANDY SONG to me. (I will accept either of them singing "Til I'm Blue," though.)

Yeah, the MELODY is awesome, and the build of that last part, but yes. The words themselves.

is Neal sitting there after shows being like YOU GUYS. SCARS. FINAL WAX. OBSTACLES. GREAT WHITE SHIPS. FEET. HOOVES. with, like, a chalkboard and a pointer or something.

OH MY GOD ROCK POWERPOINT PRESENTATION. I WANT THIS SO BADLY.

where Dave completely changes the lyrics and says something like "we are left unfailing."Yes! I think that's the one I have on my iPod. And I totally TOTALLY agree about his voice fitting that better than "Make Me," and that they're both awesome on TIB. There are DEFINITELY certain MWK songs that are so perfectly suited to Andy's voice--"One True Thing," IMO--that I have no interest in ever hearing Dave sing them. However, if Dave wanted to do "Stuck Under Wheels" sometime, that would be A-OKAY with me. (His harmony on that at the Tulsa show was EPIC, especially on the last chorus, but what I REALLY want to hear him do is the "I hate this" part, all gravelly. Nnngggh.) Andy's voice is clearer and sweeter, and ( ... )
