Just one breath that I can breathe, just one honest, untouched scene

- There comes a point in one's life when one is too old for magnetic poetry, and I am definitely past that point, but OH MY GOD DINOSAUR COMICS WORD MAGNETS. DO WANT.
- I made roasted cauliflower last night and it is MY NEW FAVORITE THING. The recipe I linked to is just the basics; I added some freeze-dried shallots, which I left to soak in the olive oil while I was slicing the cauliflower (obviously garlic would also be good, fresh or dried), and some ground pepper, and sprinkled with six-cheese blend from Sessa's in Somerville at the end (though any hard, sharp cheese would be delicious). But obviously you could probably add LOTS of other tasty things. Normally I can sort of take or leave cauliflower, but this was AMAZING; it gets a little nutty and a little sweet and a little crispy on the outside, and it's soft but still a little bit crunchy, and WARM and DELICIOUS and OMNOMONOM. Mr. McK and I ate a whole head between us and would have happily eaten more. Like, a LOT more. NOM.
- Another dinner I've been having a lot recently: mixed greens with sliced pear, pomegranate seeds, gorgonzola, and pecans, with a vinaigrette composed of about a quarter of a cup of white balsamic vinegar (champagne vinegar would also probably be awesome, I just don't have any right now), a splash of lemon juice, about half a teaspoon of Dijon mustard, a sprinkle of freeze-dried shallots (I LOVE SHALLOTS OKAY, and these are easier than dicing garlic), and somewhere between one and two tablespoons of olive oil. And salt and pepper. IT IS SO TASTY, though I learned the hard way to be careful with the lemon (or more generous with the olive oil), since it gets pretty acidic pretty quickly. But still. SO MUCH DELICIOUSNESS. And I think it would be really good with dried cranberries, too, when I run out of pomegranate seeds.

Ahahaha. sdwolfpup made this for me years ago, because what is fandom, really, if not a slow (or not-so-slow) erosion of every line you ever thought you had? (I'm pretty sure she made this for me after I started writing RPF.) I have yet to write bestiality, though, so this icon is still usable. Hee.
ALLISONNNNNNN. This is Allison Iraheta, who was on S8 of American Idol, and I LOVE HER. Her voice is ASTONISHING and she is ADORABLE and DELIGHTFUL and I absolutely CANNOT WAIT for her to release another album. This icon was from the Idols Live tour when she and Adam (Lambert) would do their "Slow Ride" duet, and it was the CUTEST THING EVER, and I love how BADASS and SASSY Allison looks here, like she is determined to OUT-SASS ADAM LAMBERT. GET IT, ALLISON. Also, on a shallow note, I really really REALLY enjoyed Allison's corset (and lace-up pants) from this tour. HNNNGH. Basically as soon as Allison starts talking (or tweeting) I remember that she's a teenager and therefore way too young for me, but when she's onstage? YES PLEASE. Here's my favorite song off her first album, Holiday.
Ahahaha. This is Neal Tiemann, former lead guitarist for David Cook, who recently left the band and broke my heart (and my OTP). ;__; It is possible I am slightly overinvested in Neal. He's now playing with a band called Hell or Highwater, and his long-time band, MWK (for which he is the primary songwriter), is about to release a new EP in a couple of weeks, which is REALLY REALLY EXCITING because they are AWESOME. Anyway, Neal is Brynn's Type #11: Awesome Guitarists, crossed with Brynn's Type #15: People With Tattoos, crossed with Brynn's Type #5: People Who Try To Look Like Badasses But Who Are Not-So-Secret Marshmallows, crossed with Brynn's Type #2: Awesome Songwriters. This is also a good general guitar-porn icon, which clearly I have need of a lot, because I have a guitar-kink that can be seen from space. And I made this icon! Which is a rarity. Hee. Anyway, here's my favorite MWK song, One True Thing, as well as a live MWK track where Neal takes the most badass acoustic guitar solo I have ever heard, Til I'm Blue.
OMG GERARD AND RAY. ♥_♥ I love this picture SO SO MUCH. For one thing, as mistresscurvy said a while back, I cannot imagine anything more comforting than being hugged by Ray Toro. And I am just FASCINATED by Gerard and Ray, because their whole outward vibe is VERY DIFFERENT and yet I'm actually pretty sure they're VERY SIMILAR on the inside, in a lot of ways: both really passionate and determined, both kind of the driving creative forces of the band (which is not to discount Frank's and Mikey's contributions AT ALL, I just feel like Ray and Gerard have the greatest influence over their actual music), both HUGE DORKS, etc.. Plus, being a few years older than Mikey and Frank, I would imagine that put them in similar big-brotherly positions, when the band was younger especially. But OTOH I think Ray's brand of steady determination balances well with Gerard's kind of crazy visionary thing. So yeah. These two have MANY MANY interesting contrasts and similarities to me, and I am kind of endlessly fascinated by them.
ABBYYYY. This is of Abby Scuito from NCIS, who is played by Pauley Perrette, and I am hugely in love with both Abby and Pauley. In fact, for a LONG time I couldn't get into NCIS at all (though I kept catching parts of episodes because it is ON ALL THE TIME), but I always LOVED Abby. She's incredibly smart, incredibly sweet, INCREDIBLY competent, passionately devoted to her friends, and also takes no shit from anybody. Plus she is hot as hell and rocks the pseudo-goth outfits better than pretty much anybody this side of Lindsey Way. So I LOVE HER. I also use this icon as a general-purpose music icon, which is handy.
