Not much NEW stuff, just some adorable pictures, as well as (old) music and videos, but I guess Hugh mentioned on Facebook that they're working on some new stuff, so OMG OMGOMGGGGG. Plus it is just kind of amazing that there is actually a HEADSTONES

I honestly don't think DC could have been any clearer about not wanting our money after SDCC. I always knew reading comics was asking for heartbreak, but I didn't think I'd ever subject myself to it firsthand. Sigh.

Have you read this interview with the Batgirl lady from ComicCon. It made me SO ANGRY. It also made me fall more in love with Paul Cornell, so I'll be giving DC some dosh for Stormwatch and Demon Knights, but THAT IS IT. Where Cornell is, so will I go. (First meeting of Apollo and Midnighter? Slow build romance? Refusal to work on the book if they'd been degayed? DO WANT.)

Oh, Nightwing, you will be more scowly now you have to be Robin then Nightwing then Batman then Nightwing again in the space of LESS THAN SEVEN YEARS in the new 'continuity'. Fuckwits.

HI! ILU2 (even though you are gone away now)! I had not seen that ComicCon interview, and gah. SO FRUSTRATING. I guess DC has at least put out a statement acknowledging what people are saying about the dearth of female creators; it doesn't fix anything, of course, but at least the ACKNOWLEDGMENT is a step. A tiny, tiny step, even if it only means that they're aware enough that people are pissed off about this to pay it lip service. IDEK. We'll see.

Hey, you said "aplomb" again! And reminded me that I haven't read Morrison's DCU/Dick Grayson ever. Seriously, even the best writers screw up (except GNeil, because he is perfect, lol), and it sounds like Grant has become even more crazy envelope-pushing over the years. Maybe he should take a break from his day job and go tour with the Killjoys? This would give me srs love :)))

I know some people had issues with the way he wrote some characters in the recent Batman and Robin, but he wrote Dick and Damian wonderfully, I thought, and I enjoyed that SO MUCH. Having a (relatively) light-hearted, quippy Batman was AWESOME, especially in conjunction with a more serious Robin. And the mystery stuff was fun (and made sense, which is not always the case with Morrison!), and yeah. I'd recommend it!

And hee, I hope I didn't come across douchey or name-drop-y about Neal Stephenson; he's got much more of an acquaintanceship with my husband than he does with me, I just ended up babysitting the hospitality suite at CombatCon while he was in there and thus I felt compelled to keep some conversation going. He was very nice. :)

And re: SDCC: this, that Cat linked above, covers quite a bit of it; this is the follow up from DC. It's... something, anyway? I dunno. We'll see how it all falls out.

Aw, sweetness, no more than I was when I doucheily and name-droppingly sent you the pics of me and GNeil, etc! I have a terrific meet-cute story with the man, which I will tell you when I have an extended period of time :)

And I remember when you and Mr McK met Neal S in a combat class context, and I squeed to death :))) Fandom stories and name-dropping need to be shared with fellow fangirls!
