AHAHAHAHAHA, they said David Cook KEPT HIS EMOTIONS IN CHECK? What show were they even WATCHING? Boy had to chow down on peanuts after every performance to replace the salt lost in tears. (ILU Davd Cook!)

YAY, THOR! I liked it A LOT. It is very female/gay male gazey which I do believe you will appreciate. :D Also, EEEE!

And yay for fangirls! Always a good choice whatever day of the week. \o/

HAH that EW article is why I got to that Kris performance I sent you.

I actually would not call that DCook performance MY favorite, but then I also didn't watch his season so in the heat of things maybe it would have been!

(PS, Clay Aiken is also listed twice. Oh Clay Aiken. You are sure...you.)

I liked their choice of "Heartless" for Kris! He had a lot of awesome performances, but that one was awesome both for itself and for the risk he was taking and for the sort of FUCK YOU of it all. Hee.

What is your favorite performance of Cook's, do you think? I (obviously) didn't watch his season either, so I may have felt differently if I had, too. But as it stands, TWIK is my favorite (though of course I love almost everything he did, except Baba O'Riley, which I STILL want to go back in time and make more awesome, WTF THAT SHOULD HAVE BEEN AWESOME).

I scrolled through that EW list and there are definitely some good ones in there. I do have to say that the reviewer gives these contestants way more credit for their creativity than they probably deserve. Almost all of their interpretations are covers of covers. Good ones, yup, but still. They have zero time to come up with something new. There was a slight controversy about it with Daughtry's version of...was it Walk the Line, but the practice didn't stop there. At least the "creative" ones know their own style enough to pick a good cover to go with and they've usually been around long enough to actually listen to a lot of different artists and more than just what their favorite artists play on the radio.

That's a good point! They always tend to gloss over that aspect of it when they're doing these retrospectives.

actually, now that i'm thinking of it, it DOES make sense if you're watching THIS season. there are some CRY-BABIES on there right now, and not in that COMPLETELY AWESOME way that david does it, where he's just OVERCOME and TRYING VERY HARD TO KEEP IT DOWN, but FAILING.

(i've been watching michael slezak's idoloonies, which has netted me THIS AWESOME also.)
