I need advice, flist! I got notified last night that I'm supposed to be driving the
crack_van for SPN for October. (I really kind of wish they'd notify you earlier, but I guess they've got a lot of stuff to juggle.) The problem is that I signed up to do that a year and a half ago, and I really haven't read much SPN fic for at least the past year. So my

I do think the writers' strike messed things up for season three. I can see why they chose to have the latest Winchester-sells-his-soul-to-the-devil storyline reach a conclusion (of a sort!) by the end of the season. Unfortunately that didn't leave enough time, on the reduced schedule, to focus on Sam doing anything much other than trying to save Dean. I have hopes for this season, though. ::crosses fingers::
Ooh, new Jeffrey Foucault stuff - thanks for the links! It's not autumn-y enough here to really get me in the mood - not to mention my continuing obsession with My Chemical Romance - but soon, soon. :)

Of course, the entire show revolves entirely around Michael--Sam has/had his rarely-seen girlfriend, but really, aside from that, it's like Michael walks out the door and everyone just freezes until he comes back.
This is so true, and it's mostly not a crippling drawback--Michael is very much the leading man, and the whole plot revolves around him--but I thought it was hilarious that even Fiona's new boyfriend is actually all about Michael. (I think the character who seems to have the most independent life is, actually, Madeleine, and that's one of the things that makes her such a fun character when theoretically she should be unbearable--she's out doing her own thing, and Michael has to react to her, rather than the other way around.)

Good point, thank you!

I KNOW. I said the exact same thing to Mr. McK! And you're very right about Madeleine--I hadn't considered it that way, but you're right, it's a nice change to the dynamic. Though she, too, is always trying to get him to talk about their relationship. In a lot of ways it's such a teenage boy wish-fulfillment show. And I'm totally fine with that, I just find it amusing sometimes. :)
