Don't always need to know what it's all about

Yet another random update, brought to you by writer's block.

- Non-frivolous stuff first: R.I.P., David Halberstam. Summer of '49 was the first baseball book I ever read; my dad gave it to me and it had a lot to do with the real beginning of my life as a baseball fan, and it will always have a special place in my heart ( Read more... )

random, personal, baseball

I'm surprised he can even stand up straight, what with the crushing weight of his ERA

It's official. I fucking love you.

it's not quite enough for me to just be excited about something-I'm always compelled to share my excitement about it with other people

Depending on what the thing is, I'm very much like that, too. I find that certain things I like to just be *mine* though (because hi, I'm Willow, in case you didn't know). I think overall it's best to celebrate something with other people when you're all discovering it together.

I just realized something: maybe he's trying to make his ERA match his salary?

EXCELLENT POINT. Be warned, though, today I have the focus of a five-year-old on a sugar high. WOO.

Like what? Or would you rather not elaborate here? :)

Bwaha! MAYBE. Still, any reference to something being hindered by its own weight wins out with me simply because my favorite SN fic (where Dan mourns his turning 30) includes the line "the cake will sag with the weight of its candles" and I <3 that. (Isn't this important information you need to know? ISN'T IT?)

EVEN BETTER.

Like what? Or would you rather not elaborate here? :)Ha! You make it sound dirty. Well, come to think of it, I prefer not to share sex partners with my friends. You know, if I was there first and stuff. But usually it's music that I like having as just *mine*. And it's not like I listen to any bands that the rest of the world hasn't heard of, I just happen to love bands that most of my friends don't like or aren't really into (particularly 311 and Toad the Wet Sprocket, respectively). So it's fun going to a show by myself and feeling like the ( ... )

"the cake will sag with the weight of its candles"

HEE. That is awesome, and yes, I totally needed to know it.

I prefer not to share sex partners with my friends.

Good to know! In college, I lived with my ex-boyfriend's ex-girlfriend for a while. But that's about as close as I've come to that.

So it's fun going to a show by myself and feeling like the experience is just mine.

Ah, interesting! I don't get quite as obsessive about music as I do with, say, books, but still, I would much rather go to a concert with someone else than by myself. (Movies, though, I'm fine with going by myself, and--as you've said--sometimes I even enjoy that more.) Interesting!

You are all fired (again) for not telling me that a movie exists that stars CKR and Molly Parker and is based on Playboy of the Western World, also known as "one of Brynn's favorite plays ever." FIRED. (Who's seen it? Is it good?)

wait, which movie is this?

Paris or Somewhere, apparently? At least according to IMDB.

oooh! He is SO YOUNG and SO CUTE in that! It's not a great movie? But it's not bad! and it starts with a loooooong, lovely, fabulous Callum-in-very-tight-jeans cockshot. Srsly. It's worth it just for that. Also, there is fic based on his character in this and Paul's from...Getting Married in Buffalo Jump? I think? And my god, Callum adn Molly are RIDICULOUSLY young in Paris or Somewhere. I have pictures, somewhere!

I, um, may have ACCIDENTALLY found something on YouTube last night that involved CKR sexing a red-headed Molly Parker and I was like, OMG, what is that from?!, so I went to IMDB, and I'm not sure that it was Paris or Somewhere, but the red hair made me think maybe yes? And the fact that they both looked pretty young. Anyway, sexing or no, I would very much like to see it now.

(This morning I am particularly filled with glee about the fact that the Headstones have a song called "Fuck You." It's so MINIMALIST. Hee.)

You and everyone else in America failed to watch Drive. *cries and cries* I don't want it to be cancelled, brynn. Sigh.

Glad to hear Felix was pain-free! How long until his next start?

FLY, BE FREE

Hee!

I KNOW. I feel guilty for not watching it! I AM SORRY. I will watch tonight!

Felix actually just got put on the 15-day disabled list (retroactive to the day of his injury), so he's not eligible to come off until May 4. But that's fine, that was pretty much his timetable anyway, and they've got a series in New York that weekend, so if all goes smoothly with his recovery, that could be a fun time.

Sharing your interests and excitement with people is definitely one of the best parts of fandom. I just love when other people *get* it.
