[Gunn's silent for a moment, then answers her questions in reverse order.]

[The response is immediate, and there is steel in her voice when she replies to her brother.

But when he mentions his eye, that a bird got to it, Bryn swallows the lump forming in her throat.

[Those few hours were agony for Bryn. Each minute that passed without word from King made her worry that something was wrong. Something horrible. Injuries she hadn't seen taking a turn for the worse or something...she didn't know.

Bryn fumbled for her comm immediately.]

Oh thank god...are you okay? Did something happen? Did you get hurt or something?

[King clears his throat and then grunts, sitting up on the bed. He's tired, and he bled on the sheets. Oops. But he's not heavily damaged.]

I've just got a few cuts and bruises, kitten, I'll be fine.

What about you? You're on some kind of quarantine deck?

[Bryn pauses long enough to make sure her tone is level and calm. She already freaked out Karis and she didn't want King to worry about her. After all, she was doing that enough for herself.]
