Oh yes - I get the cats names and children’s names mixed up all the time lol!!

The wrong name thing is played in drama as if it's some terrible emotional tell (think of Emily's wedding in Friends!), but honestly? People do it all the time, and mostly I don't think it means anything at all.

My nephew intersperses sentences with the name of the person he's speaking to, all the time. It's really strange and always distracts me *g*

And the portmanteau names thing - yeah, my dad did that all the time.

Yes, I've a couple of colleagues who do it too. One stresses it strongly, which I find very difficult as it sounds like she's annoyed all the time (with everyone), which she clearly isn't!
