Well, it's more of the same here, but I guess that's good. I went to the supermarket earlier than I wanted yesterday because my last remaining milk turned sour and I couldn't have tea at breakfast ugh. He's very interesting, I'm going to enjoy this book.

I haven't come across Greg Jenner, but I'll definitely look out for him, especially on the basis of his actions here. Good for him.

So sorry about your Paris secondment - I really hope you can get it rescheduled. We had fresh croissants this morning from a local baker, who has started baking out of his house - you order online and go collect them at the bottom of his driveway, so I was imagining I was in Paris this morning.

As you say, at least you have wine!

I'm sure you can get hold of his first book, A Million Years in a Day, which is a history of small things about normal life throughout history. He's also the chief nerd for Horrible Histories (tv), so you may have seen some of his work!

I've known Paris was off for ages, but it is a bit sad, of course. Envious of your croissants!

Wine is really helping right now. Nearly a month ago my brother sent me a newspaper article that alcohol consumption in the San Francisco Bay Area was up by 46%. I have a feeling it's even more now.

I feel almost guilty about having our garden to potter around in, I realise how lucky we are. Even when I lived up in the NE I always had at least a little balcony, and I do not envy you having no outside space to call your own.

Can you at least sit on your doorstep in the morning sunshine with your cup of tea?
