Very well done! I think she's reacted in kind, though maybe just a touch more fear -- or, perhaps that's best to come, actually. At THE moment you really don't care about much besides being with your beloved. It's once you've become separated from the familiar, or you move in together in a different place, or some-such that reality sets in, and bills start coming, and appliances break, and dishes become dirty and laundry needs doing and ... well, you get the idea. Reality sets in -- and that's a whole other ballgame! ;)

But for those first few moments of glorious novelty, it's all about the possibility and being together. The next hurdle is to ensure it was all worth it. For some, it isn't -- but for others, you can't imagine any other scenario.

Good chapter. Onto the next ...

You would’ve thought Hatter had discovered buried treasure by his reaction to Goodwill. After practically pulling Alice’s arm off making a beeline for the leather jackets, he clapped his hands in delight and dove headfirst into the sale racks. He found eight silk shirts in his size, three hats, and two coat racks for fewer than ten dollars, not to mention three tea sets, all with missing pieces, for twelve dollars total. Alice’s money didn’t make sense to him, but when she declared him to be a cheap date, he decided that $12 was probably equivalent to half a bottle of ‘Disinterest’. -- *Giggle!snort* I have to wonder what the workers thought of his enthusiasm.

And it's your plot point, but Alice is well old enough to be living on her own. Carol can't really move her around just on a whim like she's still 10. I assumed that they still lived together because it was cheaper and Alice didn't want to be seen abandoning Carol, especially after the big to-do she made of her father's disappearance.

Yeah, that's something they're going to deal with when they're moving in together. I think Carol probably doesn't even think about it anymore since Robert has been gone so long.
