I'm seeing a lot of assorted things...

No traffic in the parking lots at the malls.

Really ridiculously low gas prices. It's about to hit $2/gallon (remember, here in Californication, we are generally 20-50 cents above many other places in the country with various taxes, etc.).

A lot of sales being offered, clearly to get inventory out, get ( Read more... )

It's scary, isn't it? I'm thanking my lucky stars that it appears that my home will be rented out next month.

This feels like only the beginning.

We're a little less visibly stressed here in the land of defense contractors. Gas dropped sooner, the shopping mall lots are still pretty full. But I don't think for a minute that we'll dodge the bullet. This week I stopped my 401K withholding, in favor of paying down my credit card. Sure hope the job lasts....

The same is true in Nevada. I noticed 2 foreclosure homes on my run this morning.

We have a lot of houses for sale in our area. A couple of them are REALLY good deals that we were looking at in the summer when we were seriously considering moving (to get Greg's mom living with us). I'm so grateful that we didn't jump on it. Gas prices are freaking me out. A few months ago, we had a rule of thumb that was don't WAIT to buy gas . . it'll cost so much more. Now, it's the opposite . . . wait, wait! The prices are dropping. Amazing. Greg thinks we should go camping in the motorhome this weekend. :)

Michigan has been that way for a long time...
it saddens me to see more and more places ending up in the leaky boat.
