wow...

I'm seeing a lot of assorted things...

No traffic in the parking lots at the malls.

Really ridiculously low gas prices. It's about to hit $2/gallon (remember, here in Californication, we are generally 20-50 cents above many other places in the country with various taxes, etc.).

A lot of sales being offered, clearly to get inventory out, get people in, get something, anything happening. But clearly not to make any money.

In some places around here, there are three or four houses IN A ROW up for sale. Not just one here and there (and even of those, there's a LOT of "here and there" -- and clearly vacant, too). This is a nice area, too... so it makes me wonder about others as well...

And...one of my roommates/tenants (I rent out the extra rooms in my house) just gave notice. She's moving back to her parents house. Why? Turns out her parents are having difficulties: one's a contractor, one's a realtor, both of which have been hit hard around here; so they want her in their house, paying rent to them to help out with the mortgage...

Hang on to your hats, folks. Going to be a tough year or three ahead, I think :-(. I've been predicting this for a while, probably as long as I've had this blog (2005) but that don't make me happy to be right :-P
