Yeah, I have a rare brain malformation called an arteriovenous malformation (AVM) in my left frontal lobe. It gives me a sky-high risk for stroke or aneurysm. Lucky for me the stroke was minor and didn't do much long-term damage.
That's too bad, but I guess it's good that the event wasn't very serious. I asked because I'm of the age where men have those sort of things and I have chronic hypertension making me an at-risk individual for stroke or heart attack. Also, my mom was paralyzed over half her body due to a stroke some years ago, so the word "stroke" caught my eye. So much for the good news, eh...
I think it's that I can't recognize or acknowledge my own limits a lot of the time. The back pain is a chronic thing, but the wrestling each other to the floor didn't help. But we were taking stomach punches, and I kept telling my partner to hit me harder. Didn't really hurt at the time...later it did.
Another thing that effects me in my senseis' attitude about it: "If it hurts, just kiai louder!"
