Dear sweet God, that's disturbing. (Although frankly, that's a pretty terrifying doll even *without* the Joker context. I would be scared of it.)

Yeah, that's pretty damn disturbing. The way I read it is as Bruce's visualization of the story that Alfred was telling him. So when Alfred said, "funny clown," Bruce's brain filled in the Joker. I'd have to reread the issue to see if it makes sense, but if true, it's pretty good storytelling on the part of the writer/artist.

But... eesh.

I didn't think there were any particular indications that it was from one POV rather than the other. The fact that the narration is Alfred makes me read it as Alfred POV. But it really only makes any kind of sense if it's Bruce POV.
